Great pics! I've never seen that extant gown before. What's going on at the bottom of the front of the bodice? Is it overlapping too much? It looks unsymmetrical. (I guess these are kind of like zone gowns in their construction?)
I don't know : I found the pictures of that dress on internet a long time ago and I didn't note where. I thought it was on the website marquise.de (which led me to believe it was a german gown), but I couldn't find it when I research it yesterday. All I know is that the dress is dated 1789.
I think it shouldn't overlapp, but the museum, or wherever it was exposed at, use a premade mannequin and didn't make one adapted to the dress. I think it should work like a zone-front.
