The 4 first rows where done by machine nearly 18 monthes ago, and I hated them instantaneously. They are ugliness incarnated. I put the whole thing aside and only take it bake two days ago. All the other rows are hand-made on the last two days + today. At that rythm, i will finish it quickly !

As for the cord, I use a real cord !! I want my petticoat to be really really strong.

I decided to make a little planning of what I need to do in september, because, I have a LOT to do :

_ finish the 18th century stays. Should be doable. I f I work fast enough, I can have it 80% done for the first September. The only problem is that I haven't done a lot of handsewn eyelets by now, and they can be the longest part of it all...
_ rework my old française (at least pin the alterations) and do correct pictures of all my 18th century costumes collection. For the people of Les Menus Plaisirs.
_ make a quick 18th century jacket. Because I have too few 18th century costumes for the moment.
_ make the 1830s-40s underpinnings, except finishing the red quilted corset. I leave that one for October. This means : 1 corded petticoat, 2 or 3 flounced petticoats and 1 multi-layered petticoat as instructed on [livejournal.com profile] demode_kvc website. I'm not sure of being able to do this in September. But I REALLY need to have it done quickly, before doing the dress. At least, if I decided to choose to do the 1848 revolution dress, a little part of it is already done.

I was reading you people posts about your poe event, and it just stuck me that 2009 is the bicentennary of Poe's birth (he's born on the 19 of january).

I was thinking ahead for the people on [livejournal.com profile] european_cc : we may use this occasion to make a Poe meeting in Paris, maybe instead of Bustles in Paris 2009. As many of Poe's most famous works take place in Paris, it could be a really cool thing, and we could use his date of birth and death (1809-1849) as a time span for the costumes.

For the date we could make this on the 18 of january (a sunday), which would match his true date of birth, but may collide with everyone's agenda, or use a later date. But we need to begin thinking of it now, if we decide to do it.

If you're intereted by the idea, comment and I will make a post on [livejournal.com profile] european_cc.
