The Orsay project, a.k.a. the 梅 の ドレス (the ume dress)

Now, it's really time I begin worrying about that dress. The thing is that I've finally found the japanese fabric i want, but I'm wondering about what to use to coordinate it with. Lemme explain. Here is the dress :




There was this other possibility, but I found the red to red, and too bright, and i prefer the other fabric :


The fabric I shall buy :


Now, my problems : the other fabric (black arrows on the following picture) is said (in the original La Mode Illustrée Magazine) to be white or cream (I can't remember). But I'm not sure that a cream or an ivory will look good with my japanese fabric. If it had been all black, it would have been great, but here... what do you think ? any advice ?

Other thing : in the original description, there is no mention of the colour of the gilet/underjacket, and of the, I suppose, coordinate bows on the skirt (green arrows on the picture). Do you think they'd be made out of the same fabric and color as the skirt and first under-jacket ?

What color is the edging on the jacket? That might help you decide the color of the 2nd underjacket.

I think white, rather than ivory, would likely look best. Cream or ivory might just look dirty. As for the underjacket and bows, if not white, perhaps plain black or plain red would have been used?

Weirdly, I like the idea of white too. Black could be too matchy-matchy.

Ooooh yummy ! I think white would look good, to, then I'd say red and only as third choice black.

As for the bows, I'd say either coordinate with the tunique fabric, or with the japanese fabric, so red and black bows...

BTW, out of sheer curiosity, what fiber is the fabric made of ?

PS : it will look absolutely stunning, wonderful colors !

I still haven't buy it. but on the internet site, they say it's cotton.

I like the idea of Red and Black bows ;-))))
