I was surfing on the internet tonight, mumbling things about France being a damn retardated country (I shocked Hades-the-cat -- does every costumer has a cat ? I only see mine when I came to see my parents : it's like two lovers seeing again after painfull years of longing, so cute... Er,... anyway), which doesn't have the slightest little costumed event (if you except damn medieval SCA : who cares about medieval wars reconstitutions, seriously ?!), when I found THIS and THAT ! I mean, if that doesn't scream "costumed event", I have no idea what did.
After closer inspection, this pics comes from here (scroll to : "JOURNEE GRAND SIECLE".) What a program ! Actually, it's very new, from this year : they offer the entry and champagne to all people coming in 17th century's costumes... What can I ask more ?

- So, my first resolution of the year (before the DIET) is that I intent to GO to that event. With a costume.
- Second resolution : for the 19th of June, my 17th corset, my pockets hoops, my petticoat(s), my polonaise, and my reproduction of the yellow robe à l'anglaise from the Galliera museum need to be done. Two costumes being better than one. The right to choices is what makes us humans :)
- Problems : as far as now, I only have the fabrics for the corset and the polonaise, and the pattern for the corset. The pattern for the polonaise and robe à l'anglaise need to be, um, refined...

And so my next question is : how mad am I ? Because I know me : I did not want to make this dresses without having lost the 15 kilos (well, okay, say 10) I have that wrinkles my T-shirts (let's imagine a tight polonaise bodice :( ... ), AND I'm lazy as hell and 5 months is a very short time to do things right, AND boning (only available at one place in France as far as I know...) and fabrics (I want shrieking red, but not shiny, taffetas -- something like that -- for the robe a l'anglaise : yeah, kill me mom !) are to expensive for an unemployed chick like me, AND I have no idea where I can find, in France, a hat that can go with the dresses without screaming horrid anachronism, AND I have not the slightest idea how I will be going to Vaux-le-Vicomte (alone, obviously) and where I am going to lodge, and abov all, WITH WHAT MONEY ?

And more than anything : what will I do, with my polonaise and my corset on the back if the concealed the event because of the rain ?

PS : My mom, the most cartesian person on earth, think that I am a rather freaky excentric person.
When I was reading HP5, I explained her the character of Luna Lovegood, and she had that little smile that serve only for me and says : "Well, that's you, obviously, ma puce."
Then, I make it a game to proove it right, but this is the first time I came to think that I really don't have to play it...

UPDATE : Ahhh!!!! I want one of the 4 late XVIII century's hats !!! (pics 4 to 8)
