wataya: (Eiffel Bal)
You won't believe it, because it's very hard to believe, but I am actually alive and, well..., well !

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] green_martha and [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne for worrying about me : I didn't have any bloody accident, I didn't fall into depression, and I wasn't even tied up in the cave by my uncle to continue being maid of all work for the rest of my life.

Actually, I'm back home in Paris, I have no more internet at home, I am undermotivate to write my motivation letters to find work and I have an urgent sewing work that requires all my attention :))

I became members of Carnet de bals last week (they organise the Compiègne Bal in March), because of an upcoming event I found on their site and in the return letter, I found the documentation for this : turn of the century Eiffel Tower Bal !! How can I resist !

So yeah, it's expensive (85 euros), and I have to put on hold everything else (red corset, flounced dress, and "Bustle in Paris"'s bustle) to make a new corset, a petticoat, a dress and a cape before the 2 of december. But I already have the idea, the patterns, and the majority of the fabrics, and I'm going to machine-sew it, because I want to have time to finish my bustle after that, and also, I need time to search work, which is, hem..., the more important, right ?

Here is my project dress :

It's a dress from the cincinatty museum, dated 1899-1901, which is exactly the date (1899) needed for the bal. Plus, I search in "English Women Colthing in the Nineteenth Century", and it says that shoulder straps, assymetric bodice decoration, and use of flowers as dress trimming are three predominant elements of the year 1899. All the more perfect, isn't it ?

Here are my (synthetic) fabrics :

The gold one will be for the bodice. And a close up of the skirt fabric :

The colors are wrong, but I made a thousand pictures, and none of them would came correctly : the bodice fabric is a dull gold, something of a gold with a kaki green shine. It's more beautiful than the description. As for the skirt, the color is green-grey, and not blue grey, and the flowers are golden too, but not the same as the bodice. I'm still searching a voile for the skirt trimming, but the color is difficult to find.

If anyone is interested, I mean especially [livejournal.com profile] green_martha and [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne, the bell is restricted to 150 or something people, memebers first : if you want to come, you have to become members and pay for the ball before the 21 of october. After the 21, inscription is open to none-members, but I'm not sure there will be remaining places.
If I remember correctly, [livejournal.com profile] green_martha already have a turn of the century ballgown : I hope you didn't undo it to make another gown...
