I've found some articles (in french) with pix about the new exhibition at the Palais Galliera (one of the two costumes museums in paris), Modes en miroir : it has just begin and I have seen it. There are some really beautifull clothes, and even some very impressing dresses, and some traditionnal Nederlands clothes but I felt they could have put more dresses in exhibition. For a non-connaisseurs (I hear a lot of stupid comments : "this is a french dress because it's huge around the waist, see ?" _ emh..." *bite my thongue*, it was a court mantua...), they were a lot of thinks (said 130 items : dresses, fans, shoes, etc.), but I felt like it was not enough. I should be intoxicated, when I don't have a hundred dresses to see, I make an agony crisis !

Also, I feel there was way too much man banyans and morning coats : ok, "indiennes" fabrics were forbidden to sales in France (the french prohibition !!!), they weren't in Holland, Holland made a lot of money selling clothes in "indiennes" to the french blah, blah blah, very beautifull examples, but did they have to show 8 to 10 banyans ?! The dresses in "indiennes" quota was, I felt, not equivalent.

But it could also be considered as a good thing : this is the first exhibition I see where I have the impression that there is as much male costumes as females.

And a last thing : for an exhibition named "mode in mirrors", there was an impressive lake of mirrors : doesn't it gave you heart shocks when you found the dress of your dream and you just can see only one side of a dress ? The back of an anglaise dress when you wanna see how the compères work ? The front when you want to know how it is pleated ? The front when all you need is to see how is tied the polonaise or pleated the french pleats ?!

So overall, let's be honest, it was a fabulous exhibitions. But I'm waiting for the costumes geek private show.
