Aargh ! you finisehd yours before me ! It looks quite good from what I can see. I'm still not sur eI can make the bustle gown before we're coming to Paris (on Wednesday) but at least I'll have a dolman... I can wear that with jeans, can't I ? ^^

Er... Ain't finished yet !!

The dolman needs to have sleeves hemmed, to solve a back problem, needs a closure and needs a trimming.
The vest needs a second sleeve, needs sleeves to have wrist finished, needs to be hemmes, and need 10 more handmade buttonhole.
The skirt needs a closure, a waist, pleating, hemming (and it's still waiting me in Paris...).

So don't tell me YOU are late !! No one can manage to be latter than me-with-a-deadline.

And no, you don't have the right to wear the dolman with jean : HERETIC !!!!! Le bûcher ! Le bûcher !

The question is : if I am to get burnt for heresy, where should the pyre be set ? (I promise to do my best, in fact there's some chance the dolman could be done by tomorrow and maybe the rest of the outfit byt wednesday... if I cut down on sleep)
What pattern are you using for the dolman ? What's wrong with the back ? (my fingers are stil sore from sewing the postilion pleats into place, gah !)

For the Pyre, I would say that the concord would be good : burnt under a pagan obelisk, priceless !

I used Blanch Payne's History of costume 1870s - 1880s dolman pattern. I just adapt it to my "sweet" stout figure, and lenghten the front, because I thought it was too short and would look silly. You should have it somewhere : I post the patterns some time ago. My scans are stuck on the harddisk of my old comp, so I can't send it to you if you can't find yours.



Le problème dans le dos à l'air minimal, mais il ne faut jurer de rien ! J'ai fait mon dolman à la machine, et après avoir cousu les manches, je me suis aperçue que cela avait fait des plis au niveau de la taille dans le dos, et comme celui-ci est petit, cela tire et fait un bourrelet. Je vais devoir défaire un bout de mes manches et le refaire à la main, en espérant que ça marchera.
