I was daydreaming about what we could do to have an european CC, because, honestly, I really think none of us, european, will ever be able to go to the original one.
So we need a place : Paris will be good. Chauvinism apart, Paris is rather central to West Europe. This is a lame exemple, but when Disney choose a place to implant Eurodisney, the choose a place near Paris, because it was as much accessible to Portugeses or Greeks as it was to Irishs and Norvegians. The majority of costumers I'm aware of are from northern Europe, but it would be really stupid to believe there is none in Spain or Italy.
I also notice every one mentionned wandering in the Versailles Gardens, in the Louvres Rooms, etc... :-)
I think June would be good : primo, because it's the beginning of holidays. Deuxio, because later summer will be really too hot, especially August. There's no way I'm going to costume in August in Paris !!!! Tertio, around the 18 of June, there is the Vaux-le-Vicomte event, it's free, it will be a shame not to profit of this occasion. And also, this is the beginning of Katherine vacations in Germany, and we ALL want to see Katherine's dresses, don't we ? :-)
We could create an Association Loi de 1901 : it's the right to create an association freely, to meet without problems (like being mistaken with terrorists... in corsets), we could maybe have donations, taxes exoneration if it's a non-lucrative organisations, and that kind of association is open to foreigners, which means that there should probably be no problems to have the majority of classes in English.
The only real problem I have is that the only european costumers I know are
de_ravenne,
green_martha,
isiswardrobe,
kuusikuu,
myladyswardrobe,
operafantomet,
naergilien,
tailordrews,
mirazandar,
lady_darkstone,
annalindqvist,
frualeydis,
johannaelisabet,
joysdaughter,
liadethornegge,
past_blue.
That's definitively not enough for an European CC.

Date: 2006-08-12 03:45 pm (UTC)From:Every big city is horribly expensive if you want to be like at home. I mean, have you look at the price of the hotel room at the original Costume College ?! I find it atrociously expensive.
In Paris, people are living, the majority of them with a very low income : so yeas Paris can be expensive, but you can bypass this.
There's McDonalds everywhere if you're on a low budget, there Ibis hotels for correct budget, and Formule 1 hotels for incredibly low low budget. There some others, I could make a list. (I will make a list for the community).
What will cost will be the fly : you're coming from Autralia, so yes, that would be as expensive as going to the original CC, in the USA.
And also taxi cabs : that's a real problem in Frnce and particularly in Paris : rather few taxis and terribly expensive. Avoid them as much as you can.
