Because
lordofaladin asked (I have the notification of your comment, but the comment itself is... err... gone.), here is the super wonderful mega complicated to-do of the 1920's bandeau :
Take a rather strong fabric. If you have a big breast. I guess small breast won't need a really strong. anyway. Cut a piece 30 cm/height. The width will have to be half your flattened breast (and by breast I mean your torso at breast level. Don't get confused. 'Cause I may be confusing). Fold the fabric on the height, making it a 15 cm/height bandeau.
Choose elastic, the kind you use to make pants' waist. They are both rather wide (5cm) and strong. Small width elastic is a bad idea. Cut three length equivalent to 2/3 of your fabric's width (that's in my case, now, it may be to big if you have a small chest). Fit before sewing defintely the elastics. You shall be constricted, without feeling bad. Actually, the first time I wear them, I felt a lot better than in true bras.
Make very strong seams : there's a lot of stress on that seams.
Optionnal : you shall thing of making straps. I will eventually make some on mine, because if you move a lot, the bandeau don't stay in place.
Isn't it the most complicated tutorial ever ? The most challenging piece of sewing you ever encountered ? No really, I think it is ;-)))
