Nearly finished !! It only needs to be bound now, but as I'm lazy on finishing, I will bound it in a bad way, and just say I don't care. Because, I DON'T care if my undergarnment is not pretty. Which is a really good thing if you count the horrid number of horrible mistakes I've made on that corset. I'm nearly the only one who will see it, anyway. But still...
But I assume all my stupidities : I mean, could I ignore, for instance, that putting eyelets at 1 AM is a very bad thing ? Could I ignore that when your beginning daydreaming on Sean Bean (that wasn't even on TV that very night o_O), it's a distinctive sign that you are already asleep, and that all the eylets will be on the wrong side of the fabric ? Mmh ? Also taking in conideration that the eylets were bad quality and just happen to just curl wrong every two eyelets ? (Considering also that it could have been worse if I hadn't put them with the magic eyelets-"pince" -- can't find the english word, once more -- but with a hammer.)
Anyway, it's nearly finished and I am insanely happy with it. I only made some little changes in the cording, and it had just the look I wanted. I first put more cording on the back : two next to the back seam, as in Katherine's original (last picture), and 3 more on the other side of the eyelets. It made the back really stronger, which is exactly what I needed : first because I'm fatter than the original owner of the corset and also a lot fatter than Katherine ; then because my back bent a lot (I have absolutely no idea how I can say this in English O_O !!) so it wrinkles a lot more without this cording than on someone with a flat back. I also chose to put the cording of the seams inside the two layers of the corset's fabrics : on the original it's on the outside of the fabric, but on the inside side of the corset (is this clear for anyone else but me ?) : I discovered I really really love the look of cording, so the official reason for this way of cording is that I wanted to have more cording on the corset. The officious one is that this cords were supposed to be handsewn, and, er..., I suck at handsewing.
I also chose to have the corset intentionnaly a bit smaller : it fits, but the gap in the back is bigger than it's supposed to be : I have that pious wish of sooner or latter loosing weight... and I want the corset to still fit after that. Quod Erat Demonstrandum.
But the good new is that I'm going (if nothing goes wrong) by my parents for the long forthcoming week-end and I will take pictures !!
Fortunatly, my laziness is on hold this week, so I have no fear that it will not be finished for the week-end.
PS : Did I mention I LOVE cording ? Now, I want to make this.
