Now something different, but strangely related : I've lazily looked at the french Haute-Couture, and I can't say I've been hooked. Not only did they fire the majority of couturiers considered as Haute Couture designers (what's next ? They'll be 2 in 2006 ?), but the couturiers I tend to love tend to be more and more disappointing : either not enough crazy (what happened to my Gauthier ?), either too crazy (every time Galliano has a wonderful dress, he has blured it till it doesn't look to anything wearable or even watchable without hurting one eyes), either, er, they're doing the same think since the begining of their career (Lacroix is just so boring : once you seen one of his collection, you've seen it all). And as for Chanel, I just want everyone to now that I think Coco and Lagarfeld to be both cheat : needed to be said.

But on the other hand, this collections have been iteresting because you can traced the origin of a lot of this dresses in costume history :

(Chanel) poiret gowns

(Dior/Galliano) idem

(Chanel) round gown

(Chanel) Watteaux pleats

(Dior/Galliano) paniers

(Dior/Galliano) (she's been beaten ?) spencers

(Dior/Galliano) regency gowns

(Dior/Galliano) empire court dresses embroideries
