O_o°° Facebook has been hacked ? I fall on a scandinavian site when I type the facebook adress. only the login attemp page seems normal.

I have two little sore balls in the back where my muscles have been mistreat by the corset : I didn't even know I had muscles there... And I have been out of it for more than 24 hours by now. yikes ! A rightly fitted corset really does make a difference ! I can't even wear my pants nor sit without feeling the pain.

I'm having more compassion for actresses who have to wear corsets made for others (like stunt actresses) : I just can't imagine working several days in a row in such condition. ugh !!!

About the dress, I take back everything I said on its grotesue side : it's perfect. I hadn't seen the magic of it yet when I wrote this : it's a dress which only work as a whole. All alone, the skirt is idiotic, but with the bodice, it was just a perfect 1882 dress. Really, I put it on, look at myself in the mirror, and suddenly I saw one of this women we see on CDV.
Pictures tomorrow evening probably.

And last but not least, Green_martha and I met the wonderful Fleurdelysa !!!! She so sweet and funny !

Oh I'm beginning to fall asleep, so more tomorrow night.

Back !

It was really fun, except that my corset nearly killed me : I'm not kidding, I nearly fainted in the metro that brought me home, and I nearly puke my fabulous japanese dinner. I'm out of this torture instrument, my back is swolen, and I can't lie on it, even after having been out of the damn thing for more than 3/4 of an hour. It was the swan song for this corset, I'm asking divorce ! February (nd probably march too) will be the underwear month : new 19th corset, finish 18th stays, begin 1830 stays, and make a hadnfull of new shift for every era (I manage to lose al my shifts !).

ouch !

I really need a new 1880 corset... Mine is bad and too small, and my back is already aching, and I've been wearing it for less than 15 minutes.

And coughing while is corset ? OUCH ! My ribs ! My gasp of air !
wataya: (Default)
At 3h30 in the morning before the event, the dress is finished. Yo ! Except that, I didn't have the time to make a last try on to see if it was good, so I may have a awefully bad surprise tomorrow. I'm just to tired to care right now. The dress is finished, yo !

(It will go by the name of "monster dress" because the result is strange and a bit grotesque, a lot more grotesque than what was expected : I reproduce nearly exactly the dress on page 420 of Fashion of the Gilded Age volume 1, and, err... the apron part is weird, really)

2011 is year during which I will :

- make a new robe à la française
- make the secret 18th c project, and the secret 1900 corset project
- make the 1873 polonaise dress (that is waiting to be done for what... 3 or 4 years ?)
- make my first 17th c outfit
- make a 1880 lawn tennis outfit
- complete the Sourcil secret project with Green_martha
- lose weight
- finally put up that site about Yoko Ogawa that I want to do. (

Let's not be too ambitious.

Some interesting links from Norsk Folk museum : some dresses with sketches, and patterns. Very small size images, but interesting nonetheless. there is a fascinating 18th century girl dress. (Nothing past regency, I don't know why. Oh, and pictures are capricious) And thanks to isiswardrobe and operafantomet for linking toward the museum site in the first place.

Oh OK..., so now I can't comment ? I've come to hate you so much LJ !

to Green_martha : ok for saturday. And I will buy some masks, and be hyper hype with a mask and a bustle. Yeah !

Dammit !

It seams I have the H1N1. Since Christmas. My parents caught the same bug than me at the same moment, and their doc finally diagnosis the h1n1, which, by the way, should have been named "The Phoenix", because it keeps resurrecting itself. I thought I was done with it , and today, dang !, the cough is back, and it's a really bad cough. I can understand that people with a weak immune system could fail at fighting it.

The thing is, I'm worried at the thought of seeing green_martha with that : it's dangerous for preg women. + I would hate for her to have this shit even if she was not preg, because that kind of cough is not something I would recommend :/

I'm improvising a dress for next saturday (I begin thursday). Hopefuly I wil finish it. the skirt is finished, but I have barely begin the pattern for the bodice and it's not promising. But, hey, positivity is my credo of the moment (I didn't like my last post, too much into "the universe is against me"-stance).
Since I'm supposed to recieve my new digicam tomorrow (remember, I broke the old one in the worst possible way : it's still working except for the screen : yo artistic blurry offset photography !), I may try to take a picture of the finished skirt.

Ooooooohhh.... Aaaaaaaahhhhhhh.... Drooooooooool.... Cuuuuuuute !... WANT !... LOVE...

I recieved Fashionning Fashion int the mail today ;)

I'm SOOOOO going to reproduce the tennis lawn gown. And the 18th redingote is really cryong for reproduction too. And the 1830 corset ? I'm in love with its incredible laced closure. And I would kill without a blink just to find the fabric of the blue crinoline on p. 92. KILLER !

I've had a bad day, fighting the french postal service (lost battle, I should have known, BTW. It's no use fighting them, they always win, by default.), enhanced by the fact that I won't take part to the next costume event out there. No costume, I couldn't suscribe to the other fun things that will be done on that day ("it's reserved to the memebers, if we have a place left, maybe.. in case of.. if the stars are alignated... but send a check anyway !" Huh... no. I don't need to have a check lingering somewhere without knowing how, when or if it will be used, waiting to stab my bank account in the back. Thank you very much. No way.).

And at the only thing I could attend, an informal ball, there will be the Bitch. Given that the only time I went to an 19th century ball, it was with her, on her invitation, and I stayed on a chair, not dancing, nobody speaking to me because I haven't be presented anyone, choking back tears because it was my fucking birthday night... I can only begin to guess what other bitchery she could do to me. Especially as I still can't dance 19th century dances. (BECAUSE I WORK THE ONLY DAY THEY GIVE A COURSE, MORONS ! They could have put it on sunday, when it's sure NO ONE is working, right ? OK, side remark ended).

And I stayed up late last night, making plans for 1882 dress, and when I woke up I found myself stupid, which is the worst promise for a dress.

Frack it all !

Day Six: Five people who mean a lot
Day Seven: Four turn offs.
Day Eight: Three turn ons.

Day Ten: One confession

Because I just saw a portrait painting exhibit where they show a beloved Labille-Guillard of mine ( among others that I love. Glee and bliss, then :D

Because I have a terrible migraine around my left eye since noon. Ouch.

1. Humor. (I already mentionned it I think)
2. Weirdness. I would love you if you have a tincture of unusual weirdness : if you know everything about that special mushroom that only grow in the Himalaya, if you dress weirdly, if have an artistic vision of your own,... But if you geekerie is mainstream (cosplay, roleplay,...), it will bore me. You better have your very own special bit of crazy !
3. Know Japan. Talking with people who only know 2 things -- false -- about Japan, it's like talking with a very bad TV journalist : bad research, worse understanding... I cut the sound. But if you DO know your Japan, my !, you're gonna be my idol. If you can explain cosplay without cliché (even if I'm not a fan of cosplay), if you know what is the Shinto, if you know who is the Kistsune, the Yokai, etc., if you know why Jizo statues wear a red bib, if you can give me the name of at least one of Japan Islands, if you understand or at least try to understand Japanese way of thinking politness, humility, and human relationships, etc.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

I never keep my new years' resolutions. Never.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Someone who used to be closed to me but as she considered me unimportant enough to not inform me of her pregnancy, I think it was time to put an end to this lie we have be maintening for too long, and I ruled her out of my life. So even if the answer is yes, it's no, actually.

4. Did anyone close to you die?

My beloved grand-mother

5..What countries/states did you visit?

My pupils'. They're stupid, and proud to be.
